Healthy Sleep Improves Mood, Concentration, And Salary

Erik Bertrand Larssen — is a personal growth coach who helps people succeed in their careers and personal lives. Today he is one of the most popular motivational speakers in Norway and the author of two best-selling books. In this article Larssen is talking about the importance of healthy sleep.

Eric served as a paratrooper in the Norwegian special forces, he have been in Afghanistan and the Balkans. After the army Larssen graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business, started to work in HR and was engaged in helping compnies to develop.

Larssen is sure that one of the main components of success – is taking care of your sleep. He talks about how to change their attitude to sleep and what it will give results.

Like any other former military man, I am very disciplined. My shirts are always ironed,  and I am never late for a meetings. And this discipline is largely connected with my habits in relation to sleep.

I help athletes, businessmen and other people to become stronger. There is nothing to be surprised of in the fact that learning of how to sleep right – it is the basis of my work as a mental coach. In fact, proper sleep is one of the rules of “Hell Week” – the civilian version of the course the young soldier. This concept helps to achieve incredible results in just seven days. Everyone who is taking part in the “Hell Week”, should go to bed at 10 pm and wake up at 5 am every day, without exception.

In the army, we were awaken with a commanders’ yell, and went to sleep being tired and exhausted. However, many years later, I still prefer to go to bed early and wake up early.

About 50 million Americans suffer from some form of sleep disorder. But just one week can significantly improve this figure – just observe the regime. Try to wake up at five in the morning – you have time to do much of the day. If you find it difficult to get up early in the morning, then slide the lifting of 7 or 8 in the morning. The most important thing – to observe the mode, which means that the weekend you also have to wake up early. It is the only way you will be able to form a habit.

To help you wake up, put the alarm clock across the room. If you use the alarm on your phone, then set a new tune.

Another important component of the “Hell Week” (program described in the book “On the limit Week without self-pity.”) – Daily exercise. It is best to charge for the first hour after waking. You will feel more energetic, you will make it easier to wake up and fully immerse themselves in a new day tasks.

However, it is important not only to get up early and go to bed on time. Try not to engage in sports for an hour or two before bedtime as exercise heart rate will increase and you will be more difficult to fall asleep. Also, you should give up the abundant eating, drinking and watching TV shows and movies before bedtime.

Your body does not have time to burn calories while sleeping, but because alcohol can make it harder to wake up. As for watching movies and TV shows, the screen of your TV, laptop and other device reduces sleep hormone melatonin.

Try to turn off all electronic gadgets in general for a couple of hours before bedtime. It is better to drink tea and read a book or magazine. This will help you to disconnect from the experiences of the previous day and prepare for productive leisure.

If you have a boy or girl, be sure to take some time before bedtime its second half. So things are not taught in the army, but it always has a positive effect.
